What is Science?

Science is everywhere — you don't need a fancy laboratory! Even your kitchen is a wonderful place to observe and ask questions. When you look at something and ask "Why?" or "How?" — that is the very first step of science.

What is Investigative Science?

Investigation means much more than just looking at something. It is a complete step-by-step process — thinking, planning, experimenting and explaining clearly.

Look closely at whatever interests you. Note all details — colour, texture, smell, sound — everything matters.

Go beyond "what is this?" and ask "what would happen if…?" — questions that can be tested.

Identify two things: (a) what to change and (b) what to observe/measure. Change only one thing at a time!

Note all observations — oil splatter, smell, smoke — no detail is too small. Always keep a notebook!

The Puri Experiment — Think Like a Scientist!

Step 1 — Ask a scientific question: "What factors change the way a puri puffs up when fried?"

Step 2 — Identify your variables:
